Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot Deck is one of the most popular tarot decks in the world. The magnificently stylized artwork created by Lady Frieda Harris is rich with Egyptian symbolism and masterfully expresses the synthesis of occultist Aleister Crowley’s esoteric knowledge. To each of the twenty-two Major Trumps of the tarot is assigned, by tradition, a Hebrew letter and a path on the Tree of Life, as well as an astrological sign, element, or planet. The deck also reflects Crowley's interest in alchemy and magic.
A 48-page instruction booklet is included with a commentary by Stuart R. Kaplan and two essays written by Lady Frieda Harris; explaining the history of tarot as well as how to use Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot.
Aleister Crowley Thoth Tarot Deck was created as a companion to Crowley’s Book of Thoth and a culmination of the controversial Aleister Crowley’s lifelong dedication to the esoteric arts.
It took five years of collaboration between Aleister Crowley and Lady Frieda Harris before the deck was completed in 1943, however, neither saw the paintings published as tarot cards in their lifetime. The Thoth Tarot deck was not commercially published until 1969. Since its publication, it has never gone out of print.
