Crazy Lace Agate is a banded Chalcedony which makes it a member of the Quartz family with a Mohs Hardness Scale Rating of 6.5 to 7 that is naturally formed with metals such as iron and aluminum. As such, Crazy Lace Agate is often brightly colored with rather complex patterns ranging from bands to swirls, zig-zags, and even the appearance of "eyes" or other spot-related patterns of creamy browns, black, gold, grey, pink, and red with each piece almost always guaranteed to be unique in appearance.

Crazy Lace Agate is commonly referred to as "Happy Lace" or the "Laughter Stone" due to its colorful and cheerful appearance and has historically been used as a charm to help with boosting optimism as well as support and encouragement through even the most difficult times in life.
